The New NFL Tom Brady Rule.

The NFL has been changing a lot of rules lately to protect players. This time, however, I think they have gone too far. They have made a rule that is being dubbed "The Tom Brady Rule." This is the rule: A defensive player that is rushing the quarterback, has to get back up to his feet after being knocked down, instead of making a lunge to make the tackle. This is a perfect example of the Commissioner further wussifying the sport. This is how Tom Brady was hurt this last season. As tragic as it was for some, it is a part of the game. I understand trying to protect players to a certain degree, but football is man's game played by men. It is a contact sport. People will get hurt. They know this going in. This rule gives a distinct advantage to offensive players in the backfield. Some quarterback were great because of their ability to get around defenders in the pocket. Dan Marino is probably the best example of this. He had a sixth sense that allowed him to move around in the pocket to maximize his time to find an open reciever. But he had to do it. There was not a rule to bail him out if he wasn't good enough to move around. That is what made him great. Brett Favre and John Elway had the ability to throw on the run. They were able to get out of those situations. That is what made them great. After a rule like this is in place, will we be able to compare quarterback stats from before and after? I don't know, we will have to see. But something tells me that we will see a difference, and it tarnishess the game.

Howdy! This is my first blog. I wanted a place to express all the opinions I have on things. My name is Grant Keller. I am a junior Sport Management major from Amarillo, Texas. But most importantly, I am the proudest member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2010. A- Whoop! I love sports, politics, humor, and Texas A&M University. These are the things I will talk about. I have very strong opinions about things. So if you want feel good liberal ideology crap, then this is not the place for you. But if you want some hard hitting commentary on some of todays biggest issues in many different areas, sit back and enjoy the ride.
